About me

I'm Mina, mother of two wonderful daughters, photographer, and doula, originally from Serbia, now rooted in Portugal.

Photography is my main profession, but I became fascinated by birth during my first pregnancy. My daughter was born in 2020, in a hospital in Belgrade, a setting very different from what I desired. Decisions were made without my consent and what should have been one of the most empowering experiences of my life, left me instead feeling unseen and unheard.

That moment changed the direction of my life and I became determined to help women understand their sense of agency and have better birth experiences. I trained as a doula, and that path led me to make a documentary series about birth in Serbia. My Instagram grew to an online community where women began sharing their stories openly, many for the first time. Since then, I've worked with many women through pregnancy and birth, and held birth preparation courses to help them walk into their own births informed, supported, and with sovereignty.

My second daughter was born at home, unassisted, surrounded by my family and a close friend who is also a doula. It remains the most profound experience of my life.

Today I bring both worlds together - supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and the early days of motherhood as a doula and lactation consultant, while documenting this sacred window through photography.

I deeply believe in a woman's capacity to birth and to nurture her baby.

Doula Support

I offer emotional and practical support mixed with evidence based information and experiences from the field. I stand by your side in the moments of greatest vulnerability and power, witnessing your transformation.

“Doula: a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to their client before, during and shortly after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.”

Doula is there for the whole family on their journey of having a baby, offering emotional support and evidence based knowledge.

As your doula, I will help you navigate the physical and emotional challenges, creating space for you to sit comfortably with your fears, look into your desires and abandon the old patterns that might hold you back from getting the birth experience you hope for.

You chose a doula with your heart. Contact me for a free discovery call to see if we are a good match.

Photography

If you have already booked me as your doula, you can add full birth photography to your care package. I document your story from active labor until a few hours postpartum, seamlessly blending photography with the continuous support you already rely on.

Authentic, documentary-style photography capturing new family moments and falling in love with your baby.

I love maternity photography. I find pregnant women sensual, radiating divine beauty while just existing. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe and relaxed to express yourself and to show you how beautiful your changing body truly is. Each session is unique, tailored to reflect your personal story and journey. Depending on the concept, shoots can take place in nature, urban environments or your home.

Mother Blessing Ceremonies

A Mother’s Blessing is an intimate gathering of close friends and family held before the baby arrives. It is a celebration of the passage from maiden to mother, the transformation in woman’s life. Unlike a traditional baby shower, which often focuses on material gifts for the baby, a Mother Blessing centers entirely on honoring and nurturing the mama-to-be.

Structured like a women’s circle, this celebration is filled with meaningful connection and supportive rituals. Guests might craft a custom bead necklace where every bead holds a wish for labor, tie red threads around wrists as a symbol of unity until birth, or pamper the mother with belly painting and massages. Complete with flowers, nurturing food, and joyful conversation, it is a sacred space to surround the mother with love and support.

FAQ

What is the difference between a midwife and a doula?

Midwives are licensed medical professionals responsible for monitoring the health and safety of the mother and baby, performing medical exams, managing complications and prescribing medication. Doulas provide non-medical, continuous emotional, informational and physical support, helping you navigate decision-making, physical comfort, and postpartum transition.

What does a doula actually do during labor?

I offer continuous support - physical comfort measures (positioning, breathing, massage), emotional reassurance, holding space so you feel safe and undisturbed and help navigating conversations with midwives and medical staff. I help you understand what's being offered or recommended so you can make informed decisions.

When in my pregnancy should I hire a doula?

Most clients hire a doula during their second trimester (around 20-28 weeks), but you can reach out at any stage of pregnancy. Starting earlier gives us time to build trust and go through birth preparation together, but it's never "too late" to ask.

Is home birth legal in Portugal?

Yes. It is legal, but not covered by health insurance.

What happens in case of a transfer to a hospital?

Experienced midwives are skilled at distinguishing subtle variations of normal labor from true pathology. If a genuine medical emergency arises, the midwife will recommend a hospital transfer. As a doula, I accompany a woman during the transfer and continue supporting her inside the hospital, whenever facility rules permit.

Do you speak my language?

I speak English, Serbian and I’m in the process of learning Portuguese

Do you travel outside Lisbon?

Yes. I live in Costa de Caparica, but I travel around Portugal.
